ELMER HOSPITAL AUXILIARY DONATES $25K TO CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR ELMER

VINELAND, NJ, May 19, 2008 – The South Jersey Healthcare (SJH) Foundation received $25,000 from the Elmer Hospital Auxiliary for the “Building on Excellence” Capital Campaign for SJH Elmer Hospital.Members of the Elmer Hospital Auxiliary presented the donation to Carolyn Heckman, Executive Director of the SJH Foundation, on May 3rd during Elmer Community Hospital Day.

“Members of the Elmer Auxiliary work very hard throughout the year to raise funds in support of Elmer Hospital,” said Heckman. “This generous donation toward the ‘Building on Excellence’ Capital Campaign will enable us to maintain our excellent and award-winning reputation for outstanding healthcare for our growing region.”

The SJH Foundation’s “Building on Excellence” Capital Campaign is underway to help fund the much needed expansion of the Emergency Room (ER) facilities and the addition of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine to the Radiology Department of SJH Elmer Hospital. The ER expansion will double the size and capabilities in terms of beds and square footage. The present ER is a 10 bed facility that was servicing about 10,000 patients per year. With the tremendous growth in our region, the ER is now seeing almost 20,000 patients on an annual basis. The much needed MRI will support Elmer Hospital physicians in caring for their patients at Elmer Hospital thereby eliminating the need to send patients to SJH Regional Medical Center in Vineland. The total cost of the project is projected at $6.9 million. To date, the “Building on Excellence” campaign has received over $600,000 toward their $1.5 million goal.

For more than a half century, Elmer Hospital has been a hallmark of quality health care for the many families that have come to know and rely upon this facility as a place of true healing and compassionate care.
