STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT MEMORIES WALL COMMEMORATES THE BIRTH OF 20 BABIES AT SOUTH JERSEY HEALTHCARE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

VINELAND, NJ (March 16, 2011) – To honor the births of 20 babies born at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center at the turn of the New Year, the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund (DFSMF) – an asset of South Jersey Healthcare (SJH) Foundation – placed commemorative stars on the Star Light, Star Bright Memories Wall at the SJH Regional Medical Center.  These pink and blue stars – normally purchased by families as a donation to the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund – are a gift from anonymous donors to honor these families as a token of appreciation for entrusting SJH to provide quality medical care for the mothers and their newborns.

“Having the opportunity to celebrate the lives that enter our world at the Regional Medical Center through our Star Light, Star Bright Memories Wall is a wonderful remembrance of how precious life is,” said Carolyn Heckman, Executive Director, SJH Foundation. “These very special stars hang on our wall in honor of our babies and represent the donations contributed to the DFSMF to provide critical equipment and services for pediatrics, neo-natal and newborn care at SJH Regional Medical Center.”

The 20 babies who are receiving a new personally-engraved star this March from the DFSMF are: Nasyah Lee Aborresco, Millville, Marleny Gisell Pablo Ballesteros, Bridgeton; Sydnie Rose Blankenship, Bridgeton; Josziah Anthony Burden, Seabrook; Kameron Smith Chestnut, Bridgeton; Crystabel Hernandez Cruz, Pedricktown; Merrick Marvin Flagg, Jr., Bridgeton; Cadence Nicole Godfrey, Newport; A'Keema Ta'Meeka Graham, Millville; Olivia Justine Heger, Millville; Rubi Mendez Hernandez, Bridgeton; Benjamin Allen Hogan, Jr., Millville; Julian Homero Martinez, Bridgeton; Rosailly del Carmen Ramirez, Vineland; Alessandra Carrasco Ramos, Bridgeton; Juliannah Jean Robinson, Bridgeton; Tatiana Rebecca Olivia Rodriguez, Millville; Xzavier Aniano Rodriguez, Millville; Rossy Ninel Lucas Vargas, Vineland; and Yesnel Gonzalez Villegas, Bridgeton.

To continue the tradition of the Star Light, Star Bright Memories Wall, the SJH Regional Medical Center invites families to purchase a Newborn Star. With a gift of just $50, the baby’s birth will be remembered with a personalized, etched Newborn Star on the Star Light, Star Bright Memories Wall at the entrance of the Women’s & Children’s Center of Care at the Regional Medical Center for one year. After one year, stars are given to the family as a keepsake. With a gift of $300, the baby’s Star will remain on the wall permanently to be seen for generations to come.

The Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund was established in 1978 as a memorial tribute to the vital, giving and loving child that was Deborah Felisse Sager. Debbie was just 12 years old when her life was taken by a careless driver. Today, the DFSMF is a restricted fund of the South Jersey Healthcare Foundation. Earnings from the DFSMF continue to provide critical equipment and services for pediatrics, neo-natal and newborn care at SJH. The Deborah F. Sager Memorial fund has grown to almost a half million dollars and has made a number of vital contributions to help ensure quality health care for children.
